We provide a wide range of instrumental, vocal and curriculum music teaching in schools, in and around the Borough of Rochdale.

Within our Music Centre, we have established a “Centre of Excellence” where we offer both individual and ensemble, instrumental and choral tuition from Monday to Friday , after school and in the evening, as well as Saturday mornings. We cater for all age ranges from baby and toddler music groups on Fridays to the Retirement Choir on Monday afternoons, and our student ability levels range from absolute beginner to ABRSM grade 8 and above.

As well as practical instrumental lessons, we also provide music theory lessons on a one-to-one basis. We provide a “value for money” service to 65 primary schools and twelve secondary schools, taking in 3000 instrumentalists, 2000 vocalists and over 3000 pupils in the classroom on a weekly basis, all involved in making music.

We organise and promote the Rochdale Youth Festival of Music, Speech and Dance on behalf of the Local Authority with over 4500 participants. Every year we organize our “Christmas Cracker” concerts, involving all the Music Centre ensembles and the Primary Schools Orchestra, the three concerts being spread over one weekend in December. Every year we host the North West Regional Festival of Music for Youth in Rochdale Town Hall and we are represented at the National Festival on a regular basis by a number of our ensembles and choirs.

The bands and choirs regularly play and sing at concerts in and around Rochdale, as well as playing further afield (Italy, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Austria, The Ukraine).
